It has been a while (2+ years) that I invested in my public GitHub profile. I am thinking of going out into the market and landing a new job (Sr. SWE+) Do recruiters care about GitHub profiles these days? As recruiters are unlikely to understand the quality of code I publish on GH, how do they decide if my GH is interesting enough to talk to me?
It could be important, if you have connection to get the HM to look at it. Otherwise, what's more important is your ability to brag/exaggerate what's in the profile on resume.
Not important at all.
Not important. But if you list it, make sure it’s interesting and that everything works out of the box.
Important, only if you have good stuff there
With top tech company experience, it doesn't matter. Can help a lot as a new grad with no CS degree and no experience
Not important. I don’t even list my GitHub and most of my projects are private and I do just fine.
