Do recruiters closely look at the profile before reaching out for candidates? Do you keep it up to date with BUZZ words ? This is for someone with 10+ yoe.
Yes! My last two jobs I didn’t even apply for they found me on LinkedIn and proactively reached out including the role I just interviewed for at FB
Buzzwords, recommendation usually don’t matter for SWE
There's also an option you can activate to let recruiters know you're interested in new opportunities. I've had recruiters reach out to me without even applying.
Recruiters definitely source on LinkedIn. That’s how I got my current job; I’m also using the platform to find my next. Fill out your profile thoughtfully (treat it like a digital resume), be sure to include your current role and what you’re doing in it, yes use the buzz words, turn on the controls that signal to recruiters that you’re looking. If you’re really hunting it’s worth doing their Premium service for a month or two; has some really helpful features.
What helpful features are those? I've never changed jobs and have a bare bones LinkedIn profile.
Go to the site and there’s a whole page that outlines the enhancements you get by upgrading to Premium. You can also sign up for a 30-day free trial to test drive.
Current company and role are most important. If you’re a SWE in a top company, recruiters send a message and you can explore roles once you speak to them.
