Interviewing for a role in the Cisco Teams Collaboration Group. how is the culture ? job security? just read about layoffs. @cisco
Is it that bad in strategy too?
WebEx is trash so if that’s what CG does stay away.
We used to have a really open, healthy culture. It was ruined with exec changeover 18 months ago. Now it’s a sweatshop with entire team’s bonuses being openly threatened by Sr Leaders in all hands meetings. Big culture of fear (esp of competition) and managing upward (read: ass kissing)
Look at Microsoft Teams, started two years ago; now has Daily active users more than slack. Slack shares dropped 10% by that announcement from Microsoft, and fucking Cisco couldn’t build the product even if they started before Slack. Shame! It happens when a lot of incapable managers eat up salary and developers get peanuts; with not enough quality engineers on board, beating a product like slack ,ms team is a day dream. Bottomline, Cisco is a sales company, run from it if you would like to excel in your engineering career.
Run away from this org. Next lay-off is going to hit this org hard. They are already starting cost cutting like no on-call pay, no budget on team lunch etc. They are losing competition badly to zoom and few other collaboration softwares, not a good time to join.
I agree, avoid at all cost
What is not to avoid @ Cisco?
