How is Florida job market?

I was blessed to be greedy enough to be overemployed with 2 gigs since 2 years ago, but my main job laid me off a month ago. So now I have my 2nd remote job keeping me afloat, but the gap on my resume is growing and it has me concerned. I’ve been unable to get a remote job/contract and basically have been getting nothing but 1-2 recruiter screens a week. I get some emails for hybrid/on-site roles but obviously going to office sucks and I’d have to give up my 2nd remote job and the prospect of overemployment. I realize time will come where I’ll have to give up the remote dream if nothing bites so I want to make sure I have some potential jobs in the locale. I’m in Seattle now I haven’t tired to look for onsite jobs here but I’ve never passed interviews with west coast companies even when the market was ‘hot’ years ago. Should I move to Florida (Tampa/Miami), stay here in Seattle and pray market will improve and so will my lc monkey skills, or cope and move to DC/Dallas which has decent CoL/interviews? TC: 145k

Tampa kind of sucks for tech, would stay in a hub like Seattle or Bay area. Market will correct at some point.

Bit scared of the interview bar. I’ve only been in Seattle for a few months due to wife’s job, but in the past I was on east coast and set my LinkedIn location to Bay Area. Had interviews at Facebook, DoorDash, Google, TikTok, oracle, and west coast startups but got absolutely blasted during interviews. With east coast location on LinkedIn it wasn’t like I was passing all interviews but it was decently easier. This experiment was probably in 2020 and 2019, not sure how it’s changed besides probably being more competitive... Wondering if the standard wisdom that Bay and Seattle are great for tech cause the interviews to be insane.

Since when is DC LCOL? Dallas is boring as hell but CoL is manageable. It doesn’t make sense to move there unless you want to stay there forever.

Out in Manassas Va or even Arlington Va significantly cheaper than east side of Seattle. Not low col but lower col. Also the goal is the pick forever home at least the state, spent good amount of time moving around a lot.

Is Tampa LCOL or MCOL?

Lcol for the most part.

Why not just chill where you are and do your second remote job?

IBM palmdreams OP Apr 16

Really like the idea of living in Florida especially with the cost of housing and better infrastructure. Plus not sure how long I should keep the 2nd remote job while looking for more remote jobs and when/if I should switch focus to hybrid/onsite. My resume gap is growing and I can’t list this job on my resume, don’t want to screw myself over with a big job gap on paper.

Why can’t you list it on resume?
