I have a offer from them and wanted some help! Looks like a well established hedge fund but i want some probe from people working there. - how is rto like? - how is wlb like. Do people with kids work there? - how is pay growth like? - how is tech infra like? I know traders are first class citizens but wonder how are ML people treated - are the product delivery timelines unrealistic? - how is 401k match? - how is health insurance #culture #pay #millenniummanagement #benefits
Just to address your other questions: 1. Most of us have kids and I think wlb is great at MLP. In the last 5 years I've only had to work on a weekend or outside 9-5 maybe 3-4 times. We do the "follow the sun" model so when it's outside your working hours it's normal working hours in another region 2. Tech Infra is great depending on the team. Most teams are now using ChatGPT, AWS Cloud deployment. Again, depends on the team. 3. Deadlines can be unrealistic but if you push back with a good reason they will not give you a hard time. Again, highly depends on the business you are supporting and the team you're in. 4. Your view on traders being first class citizens is not very accurate as youre only a first class citizen if you make good money. The way you are treated in Tech is great at these pod shops like MLP, Citadel, P72 because we sell infrastructure to traders/PMs so if our infra is crap no PM will come to us. Pod shops like MLP dont develop any strategies, they will hire PMs and give them money and risk parameters to adhere to. If PM makes money he stays - if not, he gets cut. That is our business as PMs come to MLP because they don't want to deal with creating their Trade Execution, Middle Office, Compliance, Accounting, etc. systems. Our bread and butter is to attract good PM talent and latest and best technology is what every PM is looking for to keep their edge so this is why tech is treated very well at Pod shops like MLP.
Highly depends on your team lead. If he fights for his workers you're golden but if he tries to just hit metrics you're screwed. I would highly suggest having a conversation with them before you start. One indication of what you can expect is the number of intermediate people between you and the business area you serve. If you're never talking to business you're going to be micromanaged and judged solely on how much code you output.
Hmm how is rto ? I was told it is 4 days
How is bonus? Do they give number previous year and you usually get 100% of it?
