Not great, but compare the offers you get
Are they even comparable in terms of TC? I thought Oracle would be much lower
Very much hit or miss as far as culture goes. I would not join a non-oci team - many colleagues and ex Oracle employees I know didn’t get raises for years and were overall unhappy. The benefits are good though.
What are the benefits?
They give some money to cover some benefit premiums and the health care coverage is not bad. I personally enjoy DTO.
It varies wildly, similar to amazon. Oracle is a dinosaur company and imo not an attractive place to work. I’d bet OCI comp even now is solid though. Maybe don’t expect FAANG-type offers, but could definitely do worse
I interviewed there. The offer was very strong but I got horrible vibes from folks. It seemed really competitive and back stabby. I got the impression the only metric folks cared about was career progression and they were accordingly unhelpful to their teammates and covetous of high vis projects. That being said, I didn't accept the offer so can't say how accurate my read was.
On the dot I’d say
Isn’t that verbatim what most people say about AWS?
Opt for AWS, but be careful around PIP and culture, plenty of info about that here. OCI has no culture, really. Pay can be good but don't expect any raises. Leadership is not good, and that won't change. WLB can be great, almost too good in some areas. There's a constant and well-founded fear of RIFs, they happen frequently. OCI should only be a springboard for something else, an 18-24 month job at best. Just be aware that Oracle is viewed as a dinosaur in the industry, with not the best talent, so it'll be difficult to get to FAANG from there.
You can definitely get a FAANG offer with Oracle on the resume, plenty have done it. But, don’t expect to work with top talent while you’re at Oracle.
How are OCI offers? As good as Amazon?
The best, most informed, and most truthful comments here should encompass these two words: "IT DEPENDS." Like anywhere, it depends on your direct management, your role, your space, and most importantly you. I've been fortunate to be on a team that I adore with management that is awesome. I can say with certainty that won't be the case for everyone here, but I believe the majority of experiences here are good ones. There is a lot of tenure, org-wide, for a reason. If you're interested in working here, go the extra step and ask to interview with someone who would be a peer of yours. See what they think. Go a step further and find someone who recently left (as long as they were here 2 or more years). Talk to them. Ask why they left. From a corporate standpoint, I really like a lot about the place, but I also have some things that I really don't like. 80-20 rule applies here.

Tech companies to avoid as a white guy?
I worked for Fusion cloud. Spent around 2years there. I personally feel i wont be part of oracle again unless there is no other choice. Culture is shit. Although i don't know amazon culture.
I have heard that only OCI pays a competitive market price
“Fusion cloud”? Is that a thing?😂
