I have an IC-5 offer from Coinbase: Role: Security Engineer Base 180k Bonus:10 % Yearly Equity Award - 175k This is Coinbase's standard offer. There is no negotiation according to their policies. Current TC: 250k depending on daily stock price YOE: 5 1. How is WLB in the security team? Is it possible to work 40-50 hours a week and be done? 2. Do they have mandatory PIP quotas to meet in Coinbase? This is a primary reason I am looking to leave Amazon. I am expecting a promo Q4 next year but the thought of forced quotas for firing people is causing a lot of stress. #tech #coinbase #wlb #amazon #google #facebook #security #crypto
Fwiw, that’s a decent bit lower than Amazon L6 pay for external SecEng at Amazon. But you could leave Amazon and come back as L6 lolol
I know. Incoming L6 SecEng at Amazon can probably pull 500k in Seattle. But they are not giving that to me right now.
1. Yes, 40-50 hours per week should be doable. Would talk to your future manager to get a clear idea of expectations and workload on the particular team you are joining, as workload depends a lot on the team / current projects. It’s not a coasting or rest+vest culture, but I’ve found there to be a lot of flexibility in how you can structure your work week. 2. No forced PIP quotas (there has been a bit of misinformation going on about this topic lately).
Thank you!
