About 20-25% of all UX org (design, research and content)
It was a culling so Rachel can hand-pick upper level ICs and managers while holding on to Maryâs favorites to keep things running. Wielding authority in-place of leadership skills at its finest.
It's honestly for the best. QL sucked. Hard to be motivated when you don't believe in what you're building. Good luck, all.
Agreed
15% of XD (Experience Design) was laid off. This includes researchers, content, and designers. 60 people were laid off all together. 25% of research org was laid off. Recruiters were also unfortunately laid off as well. 13 people.
I heard it was 75 total
Werenât they hiring for design roles just in December ? I saw Principal and Distinguished designer roles.
Theyâre firing to hire
paypal is made for empire builders
I want to hear Rachel gossip. Whatâs she like as a leader?
Sharp, pompous, direct, cutthroat Authority > leadership
Lack of empathy. Made a last minute call to the entire CDO org after layoffs. Came in joking and making comments about someones mug they were drinking out of. Totally tone deaf and just typical lack of empathy. Didnt even say the normal platitudes like "Take time to recharge.." just ... "not taking questions on layoffs, i will be answering qeustions on our next reorg though"
100% accurate super đ and hiring her own direct team of super senior designers to do god knows what
I am sorry . However it is always UX that is affected . Probably as nothing new is being created which is where UX usually stands .
It seems so, although, I wonder if it also impacts product managers.
Exactly. Did you see our first look? You could have skinned it with ShopPay and you wouldnât know the difference. Also the CPO tells design what to design and the CDO designed the consumer app over a weekend. From this stage on. Iâd say itâs a career limiting place.
