There are 14 Leadership Principles
Around 700-800
There were 550-600 a year or so ago, so this seems believable.
I recently checked the wiki page that gets updated daily by backend job so it's the right number. I don't remember the exact number. SDEs are around 25k
On an average one per director. That's the more useful way to think about it, if you're aiming for a promotion. Because Amazon is huge, so the number of total principals across Amazon isn't that insightful.
So if there's already a principal under the director, there is no more business need for another?
< 10%
3% to be precise
30% of SDEs are L4 55% L5 12% L6 Rest PE,SPE,DE Source: this was told by a PE during devcon yesterday
3% is the right number overall.. Many orgs have 0.5-1% PE
783 at the moment
And 87 Sr. principals
I’m curious - What will you do with that information?
Trying to do some quick and dirty math to calculate chances of promotion. But I want to clarify, it’s not the # of next level, it’s the # of openings. And you can have a slot for every person in your dept to get promoted, but if you suck, it won’t matter.
