Thinking about relocating and getting a job in Singapore. How much compensation should I fight for with the companies in Singapore ? I have a wife and a child. Anyone currently working in Singapore with your family?
If you are not Singapore citizen or permanent resident, buying an condo can be very expensive. Food is cheap, public transport is convenient, car is luxury. Engineers typically get 3000 - 8000 sgd a month depending on your level. So if you are not looking into owning house and car, Singapore is a good place for tech people.
Take me with you
What companies hire a lot of software engineers in Singapore?
Depending on the age of your kid, be mindful of education costs here. Even public schools will cost you SGD $10,000 annually if you’re not a local or PR, and IMO they’re not great if your kid is older and hasn’t already been accustomed to that level of rigor. Private school annual tuition ranges from $18,000 - $45,000.
Depends on how you live. Owning a car is extremely expensive there so don’t even think about it. Housing prices is the most expensive part. Food is cheap and good. Public schools are very good. Tax is low so your total comp may seem lower. I don’t work in Singapore but spent a few years there.
Yeah I gave up owning a car there. People working there seem to spend couple thousand dollars every month.
