Even if they're a few points higher than a cab, I'd still use them. The convenience and filtering of bad drivers is valuable.
You shouldn't ask people here that are mainly single male techies making 350k$+ TC and live in their ivory towers in SF. Ask average American people that make 50k TC a year.
