I interviewed with Coinbase back in February 2021 for Senior Software Engineer, and they asked me a question in the phone interview. I answered it with a 100% working, most optimal solution. (it wasn't LeetCode). And then the recruiting department emailed me saying they are not moving forward. So if Coinbase is at $250 today, how much money have run away from me? And if they ask me to join them a week from today, how much stock RSU could they be offering as compared to pre-public? For some of the people who said I never got the job... I might have tried harder... or it can be just random: if it was a different interviewer or a different hiring manager, I may have got the job. These days, I really don't know why a perfect answer might not have worked. It also could very well be: the recruiting was told that public listing is forthcoming, and we can't really hire but just keep the interviewing going but slowly... I really don't know. #coinbase #COIN #tc #ipo #publiclisting

How’s capitalism going?
I know the feeling, should have invested heavily in Amazon in 1997.
funny thing was... in the year 2005, I bought and got fake stuff from eBay (fake SD card, wrong digital camera model), and I swore I would only use Amazon and not eBay... and I bought a lot of things from Amazon since 2005, but never 1 share of AMZN
yeah, right after I came out of my mum womb.
Considering Coinbase is going to $6-700 today and probably will remain around that price by your vested time... then a lot. Feb RSU’s were about $30/share + 100 share employee bonus announced yesterday at $250/share. Edit: Looks like $425 was peak.. but congrats to CB anyway lol...
probably around 2-3 million at $250 and you'd get about 500-700k over 4 years if you join next week
Why not check how much money ran away from you for not buying BTC at $1? What’s the point man, quit whining and go find another opportunity like this
it is not whining. But obviously you are complaining, pal
Why are you sure that the solution was 100% working and optimal. You could simply misunderstand the problem or miss some critical edge cases
because he suffers from dunning kruger
That was my guess as well
Same situation here . But it was in dec 2018 . Went thru full loop onsite . They requested an extra 30 min interview which I bombed spectacularly. I had a feeling I almost got in. How much did I miss ? Lol
yeah... could be $4, 5 million... you know I just had a strange thought... if my Twitter has half of JavaScript stuff, tweeting to React or Dan... and then half of it was Pokemon Go and Animal Crossing... some fun screenshots... then people looking at my profile can give a "this guy is into lots of games", and have a reason not to hire me. Versus, if my profile is all about JavaScript, React, D3.js, then they have a reason to hire me. It is some sort of "shallow judgment". But if I separated my Twitter content into a personal account, this could have earned me $2 or $3 million more... (when I have one extra choice to work for Coinbase or Robinhood)
Faak . I thought I only missed 400 to 500k
Doesn’t matter because it was never yours because you were never qualified
I turned down Coinbase offer for $195k base $290k RSUs and don’t really regret it, culture seemed toxic, everyone I interviewed with was awkward and didn’t make me excited about working there
I agree with the awkwardness part .
Square is a lot better of a company imo.
Stfu, it’s clearly English. did you cheat your way thru English classes using Course Hero?
Thinking about this in hindsight is just negative thinking. Just move on
that might be true... if I only invested $10,000 when Steve Jobs came back as interim CEO. And before I was born, if there was a "swimmer" that was just slightly faster than me, I wouldn't even be born.
One thing I always say to my friends when they talk about stocks in hindsight is that we’d all be billionaires if we could see the future. There’s no reason to beat yourself up over it. Accept, learn and move forward with new opportunities you see fit. I wish you the best!
