How much time ( weeks/months) it would take and for how many team members to build an app like Uber eats? ( Check desc.

Ok, I just need to know an estimation for mobile app and Back end. Restaurant on board ( web app only - Backend and front end) * Sign up/Sign in/ Password reset * Onboard restaurant - add menu and price items * Add daily special menu and combos * Each restaurant introduces custom loyalty and deals. * Notify deals and menus to sub-set of users in 5 miles radius Customer onboarding ( Back end work + mobile app) * Sign up/Sign in/ Password reset * Show nearby restaurants * Show today deals and special menus * Claim rewards ( deals, loyalty points) * Payments - Add credit card/Paypal. Credit card verification. * Order online - ( Forget about order reaching restaurants for now, but in app users can place orders) * Transaction and payment history * Refer/invite friends No fancy features like ML recommendations or anything. Just above basic set of features. Note: Do not worry about idea going to work out or not/reaching out alpha customers etc. As I said, I just need an estimation. Thanks. #startup

In Jeff Besoz estimate it shouldn’t take you more than 2 weeks. Now Deliver results.

What is Jeffy's estimate technique? I think I read it somewhere, but forgot. Or may be I never read it.

Are they bad?

Literally a couple years with how much you want off the bat. And lots of engineers. Security is its own team. Payments another. Infrastructure... etc Ya. That's a company right there. You are basically asking for another DoorDash or UberEats. A dumbified money losing version. More requirements you give, more exponential the time. Going to have to make some big trims at start.

That's fallacy in thinking. You can get a lot done with very little when you have next to nothing.

Don't forget about marketing. It's impossible to get customers without spending big $$$ I'm sure Uber and door dash still pay through the ears $20-$30+ for each customer gained.

Even if uber decides to build everything again. They will not sit and wait until everything is complete OR on-par with the current app. Get the minimum work on each feature for go-to-market in less than a year ( with five teams of 6 people each) AND then have incremental milestones on each of those. To be honest, your question is so vague to be answered here.

I build it in 2 months with just 1 engineer. But this is not an one time work. You have to keep building new features, pivot as market changes. So it is kind of a never ending process. However, whatever you asked can be done in a month or two. I only did Android version. Also created an website on react with similar features. Both the app and website share the same backend.

Thanks. Yeah, I understand software dev is always room for improvement, adding new features, making it secure etc. But always there is a alpha version which could be shipped. Thanks again for sharing the numbers.
