I recently got an offer for a program manager position at Amazon. The initial offer is not even a percent increase over my current base. How much percentage should I negotiate? Also, does Amazon allow negotiation for city?
Ask for the max you have in your mind. It won't hurt but if you ask for a small % and they agree, you would feel bad that you should've asked for more 🙂
Makes sense. This ll be my fist time negotiating, so don't want to put in a number which makes them rescind the offer :)
Why would they rescind the offer hearing a number? I would imagine them coming back with a smaller number at max
They do on Cities and on Salary it's depends.
Current base please
94k in Bay Area Offered base is 1k more in Seattle
Counter them with 6 digits and relocation package. See what they say.
Depends on location. High rent areas get the bigger base.
Figure out what the minimum they will need to give you to make you happily leave your job and give them those numbers
I agree. It’s probably not worth the hassle moving there for the same salary
YOE?
Almost 5 years out of which 2 is in US
30% increase
