Not really. Employers will still try to get the best employees they can so it depends if enough college students have lost their internships. If there is enough supply that has good internships then they’ll just focus on recruiting them.
Job is one thing but the impact on the lifetime income may be more pronounced. Citing this online article (theconversation.com) - "those who graduated in recession years had initial income 9% below students who graduated in better economic conditions, with the gap closing to zero over the next 10 years."
I think that folks will understand if they see a resume gap during COVID. It is something they will start to see a lot and wont fault applicants; however, if there is a huge gap that wont look good.
