How often do you smoke weed?

I’m curious about how popular it is in the startup community (PNW in particular). How is it looked upon generally? Do you think smoking weed can hold back someones career in tech? EDIT: I eat healthy, have an active sex life, exercise frequently, active and happy family life and I’m a productive stoner. I go to therapy and take antidepressant and anti-anxiety medication. Weed feels good and it helps me sleep. Don’t know why I can’t really kick it fully, I can’t say I really want to. That’s why I’m curious if I can just accept it and work around it and stop wasting cycles trying to quit and being frustrated with myself.

Don't ask don't tell unless they say first

No one cares. But it will make u dumb.

Auth0 blahblah20 OP Feb 5, 2020

I know some engineers who are high a lot and feel they work better that way. Especially for us ADD kids.

Bloomberg GO<GO> Feb 5, 2020

That's just confirmation bias. They'd all be better without it, but some people can't distinguish between feeling good and actually doing good work

Salesforce Full-Send Feb 5, 2020

Make you dumb? Is this accurate?

Anything that can alter your brain state and bring it into a place where it's throwing I unhandled exceptions is not good for the brain.

Auth0 blahblah20 OP Feb 5, 2020

Why is that?

Psynaptic Feb 5, 2020

Because in a state of unhandled exceptions, it's far more possible to break the machine than make it better. You're operating outside the intended design constraints. The brain isn't supposed to have that influx of neurotransmitters all of a sudden -> leading to the stereotypical pothead effects we see

Unless you want to work for the feds like FBI or CIA it won’t matter.

Tried it and didn't like it Things like exercise, active sex live, and healthy diet work much better for your mental performance.

Tbh I eat very healthy, have an active sex life, exercise frequently, active and happy family life and I’m a productive stoner. I take and antidepressant and anti-anxiety medication. Weed feels good and it helps me sleep. Don’t know why I can’t really kick it fully, I can’t say I really want to. Microsoft Satyaaaaaa Feb 5, 2020

I smoke every weekend. Helps to de-stress and it just makes everything better. And I'm doing great in my career, so ignore the ignorant nerds who believe in the stigma. Weed is no worse for your health than alcohol and people even consume that AT the office

Auth0 blahblah20 OP Feb 5, 2020

Lol I WFH so I just have to wrangle it to the point where I’m not smoking in the morning and during the day.

Bloomberg GO<GO> Feb 5, 2020

@Microsoft are you a software engineer? If so, what are your TC and YOE?
