Hello good people of Blind. I just started my MS Program in Business Analytics in a decent university in the US. I have 2 YOE in analytics in CPG domain. Prior to which I co-founded a real-estate startup in a tier-2 city in India(where we onboarded 1500+ properties and 5k+ users; which all counted to very little in revenue). Now I am interested in breaking into Private Equity here in the US. Can you guys please suggest me how I should go about it? #finance #private-equity #interview
I-banking -> PE
You will need investment banking experience. This will be an uphill battle because IBD have their traditional pipelines, and the market is awash with junior bankers. So you'll need to either 1) Switch/get into a top MBA program, and thus get into IBD through their traditional recruiting cycles. 2) Network heavily, and try to do a stint at a lesser known boutique investment bank (maybe can lean on your CPG or real estate experience), and put in your years. But you got to ask yourself why PE though?
Serious question: Why do you want to be in PE? It doesn't sound like your path to this point in your life coincides with that much, and your interests/strengths lie elsewhere.
you’re an idiot. your background has nothing to do with what you’re applying for, and you’re also tagging bulge brackets that will never give you the light of day. you have zero relevant experience to talk about given your real estate project basically failed and you have no money to buy your way onto the table. and wtf is a ms program in business analytics, that screams you wasted 2 years on some useless shit degree and you’re stupid enough to fall for that shit. i wouldn’t mention that degree outside of campus recruiting assuming you’re even allowed into that stream go back to undergrad and get a finance degree. or go get a mba (prob won’t happen given your background). slave it out at an investment bank for 2 years, get stolckholm syndromes then join the rest of the sweat shop recruiting that’s private equity. or you can go find boutique 3 people shops and hustle for them as an internship where you’ll be knocking on doors of random laundromats and car wash stores trying to convince the owner to sell their business to you at a discount for no reason. then do bigger deals and have an exit under your belt. then apply as a mid level role at one of the bulge brackets after you waste years networking and buying people coffee
Next time please try waking up on the right side of the bed :)
