Hi everyone currently I work in Toronto in finance so a budgeting and forecasting role but I want to get into Business intelligence, I use tableau a lot and I’m currently sharpening up my SQL and python along with getting a tableau certification. I feel like I fall short when compared to the normal amount of tech applicants that are usually applying for this role. What can I do to set myself apart? Thanks
Since you're already on your way toward learning the technicals (which are arguably the easier part): Project Management, business/operations understanding, and communication/presentation skills are what will set you apart. Been a BI Analyst for 4+ years now. Don't underestimate the learned skill of being able to gather good requirements, and translate those requirements to data. It takes experience and domain knowledge to be able to execute this, no two ways about it.
Curious whats your TC. I feel like this path has a limit on TC.
Only 98k. I'm not in tech though, where it would pay much higher, maybe double-ish depending on company. The next step would be working on breaking into Data Science or Data Engineering to make more TC.
