If OP wants to be a software product manager, this would be a very bad move. If OP wants to work in construction or build airplanes, PMP might be an ok move, but probably not. I don't know any Product people who have PMPs, at least not any good ones.
Depends whether "PM" is Project Manager or Product Manager. PMP is good for the former
