How to get into product or UX design role at FAANG?

I am transitioning from visual design into product or UX design (have been doing for 1.5 years now) and I would just like to know how should I prepare (if I even have a shot) at getting into FAANG? I see people who have made the jump (one person did design for one year and got into Facebook). There isn't as clear of a path as the one for swe, and seems more difficult because of lack of resources and less positions in general. We know engineers are the powerhouse of a company, and designers are similar to support acts in a movie (though no less important).

I don't know if this is still trendy but one of my friends got in by building up their portfolio doing this challenge: https://www.dailyui.co/

1 a day for 100 days. Kind of like a leet code for UX/UI. That got her an internship and job.

I think you have 2 questions there; how to transition to UX and how to get to FAANG. The first one is easy enough to google about. It is essentially transitioning to how things work and how humans behave. The second is harder, but internships seem easier. Or find other ways to do projects that get you noticed - have the recruiters call you. After that is just about a bit of luck, charisma and knowing your shit. And a fit for the company - they look for different things even if titles might be the same.
