Experienced folks, can someone provide ideas on how to manage stocks and espp? Currently I’ve about 20% of my earning in microsoft stock and I know it’s bad. I want to diversify. Work exp 1.5 years I’d love to know about the selling strategies (when should I sell espp- as soon as it vests?) Also, any investment ideas would be welcome (mutual funds etc) Thanks.
Sell espp as soon as they come. First 10,000 put in s&p 500 vfinx fund. Put 5k in brk.b ( berkshire hathway fund).
Sell and put in low-fee index funds. Look up r/personalfinance for a flow chart or check out Bogleheads wiki.
Try to maximize profit on rsu and espp. Feels sick to take a loss. If possible avoid it. Sometimes you sell close to vesting and take the gain, even if it’s small. 5-15%. If the stock takes off after vesting, sometimes let it ride and see where it goes. On options sometimes a long term hold works best, and sell max profit close to options expiration.
Didn’t understand a thing 😠
Depending on growth from sub price, you may want to consider holding to qualify for long term capital gain. Typically, that brings down federal tax rate from 28% to 15%.
if you wanna hold, sell and buy amzn/sq.
