I accepted an offer at company A but company B made an offer after company A’s deadline so I accepted A but B is way better in all the terms. I accepted B today but how do I politely tell A I don’t want to join Ps- paper work didn’t start yet for company A
Just tell them you’re sorry but a greater offer came in late and you’re going to pursue it. Thats how the market works. When it comes to pay and raises, companies like to throw that market word in your face when it suits them, but it cuts both ways, this time in your favor.
That's true to a point... Companies rarely rescind an offer after a candidate accepts, and when this happens it's a pretty big deal
I've never heard of it ar ms except in the cases of unplanned reports or something like that, where the position disappears. Even in those cases they will often find a spot in another group. I got a couple of my best people that way.
When the offer from company A comes, pretend that you accepted $650K over the phone and not $150K. Blame it on miscommunication!
And then when company A goes “Okay we’ll update the offer” come back here and ask us how to politely tell company B you aren’t going with them.
😂
Well I did ask but they asked why u wanna extend. I didn’t have anything in hand so I couldn’t justify
You can always justify based on "the impact you have shown in the past and aptitude of material in the new role". You should try to invent your value before a company tells you what you're worth
Anyone else can give any suggestions?
No great way. I’ve reneged on an offer before. Hiring manager didn’t even want to respond to my mail.
I understand that can totally happen but as a courtesy I would want to let them know as soon as possible since the industry is too small in the bay
I reneged without the paper offer in hand. And yeah, I think it’s more polite to turn them down sooner than later so they can continue to look at candidates without having turned them away yet
