Been in software development for 20 years now but mostly freelancing/consulting. Have broad experience with wide range of technologies but mostly MS tech stack (e.g. asp.net webapi, windows dev, sql server etc). Been going through the jobs posted on linkedin and it seems like all the big companies netflix, google, snap etc require at least a couple of years working at scale. So How do I get into a distributed systems/backend role without downleveling? Already read the system design books and am pretty good at picking up technologies. #microsoft #netflix #meta #linkedin #backend #snap #google #airbnb
Its all about cracking the interview π
Are HMs ok with not having relevant experience, as long as youβve demonstrated diverse past experience?
They are in big companies for senior engineering roles. Small companies want engineers who can immediately be productive. More senior roles require enough experience to guide people effectively.
