With 7 years of experience as a full stack engineer primarily focused on building business logic, I've noticed a decline in the full stack software engineer market and am exploring alternative career options. One area that stands out is the high demand for MLE (machine learning engineers). Although I took some classes in machine learning, distributed systems, and natural language processing during college, I haven't had the opportunity to apply these skills in a professional setting since then. However, I've been refreshing my knowledge and feel comfortable with the technologies used in these fields, albeit lacking real-world experience. I'm considering whether it's feasible to transition into a machine learning engineer role by working on a personal project and then applying directly for jobs. Additionally, I'm interested in contributing to open-source projects to enhance my chances of securing interviews for machine learning engineer positions. Could you recommend any relevant open-source projects for me to explore and contribute to? #mle #machinelearning
