Pinterest seems to be still hiring despite all the hiring freeze across the industry. What are you guys doing differently? Are you guys generating revenue from sources other than ads? Edit: it looks like they hired Bill Ready from Google. He has a background in commerce. So maybe that’s an indicator?
They’re trying to survive man. Even the CEO is parachuting out of that.
I mean he still works there, he just didn't want to be CEO anymore I guess. I don't know
When’s the last time you used Pinterest? Yeah, there’s your answer
🤡. I never used roku either, does that mean that’s the answer?
What's Roku?
Sinking ship judging by the Blind reviews. Content aggregation is a dying business as one put it.
Why is that? I'm curious
The eng/product org is in disarray, but the financials are strong. It can survive this malaise a long time, and maybe the new CEO can understand how to run a company.
Financials are what matter the most now! Thanks for sharing
Pins hiring process is a joke. The most incompetent recruiters I’ve ever seen. My recruiter ghosted on me after the onsite (he even gave me the exact timeline when he’d get back to me but never responded afterwards + this happened after the phone screen as well.). Maybe they’re doing some reorg due to the leadership change? Btw despite all the hates about Amazon, everyone In the hiring process was super responsive and professional so I chose Amazon in the end but I don’t think I would’ve gone for Pins even if they got back to me with an offer.
My recruiter got back to me after phone screen asking for onsite dates and then ghosted me. It's been more than two weeks. Not sure if I should follow up again or just move on. How long did it take after phone screen to schedule onsite for you?
My experience was different. Pins was super responsive, worked with me on the offer. Recruiter was calling me directly through negotiations. Amazon ghosted me twice and third time came back with the next follow up round 4 weeks after the first set of interviews.
Everyone good left years ago. Absolutely incompetent, risk-averse CEO and bozo grifter execs like Tim Kendall that hamstrung product and eng. Had some strong talent but weren’t able to do anything interesting with the product, or develop new or interesting features/apps due to the worthless founders not understanding why people liked Pinterest in the first place. The number of missed opportunities and amount of time wasted on stupid shit like trying to get more male engagement was so sad and pathetic. Pinterest will continue suffer a long decline into irrelevance and fire sale to a PE firm that will put it out of its misery. Clown car in a gold mine…
Thanks for the insider insight
BS was incompetent? I can’t believe how these young kids with no work experience are handed all this investor money
Curious as well, they asked me to attend an onsite loop, but not sure if it's worth the effort/stress
