Offered an L4 TPM position within the Pixel software org at Google. Looking for feedback on the org, vision, leadership, WLB, growth and job stability. Location: Bay Area Old TC: 250k New TC: 270k
Why switch to G with uncertainty for 20K?
Maybe Zoox is going through the same? Last I heard, Zoox is slowly getting "Amazon'd" since the 2020 acquisition
Yeah, what Haleon said. Plus, I’m not super sure about the self driving industry in general. I’ve been in this for 5+ yrs and there is no sure path to revenue generation. I also want to move away from OEM/vehicle industry. And getting into Google (FAANG) has been a dream too.
I think for L4 it’s good
Bad, had a friend working as a tester SWE, very bad management. They transferred to another role recently.
Whats TPM
It's a mix. I worked with a few teams in the camera department. There are some awesome teams (particularly in mountain view) which push what's technically possible on pixel, high caliber team-mates and awesome dynamics. You also have shitty teams (within the same org) that are totally disfunctional and relics from another era (e.g. htc, motorolla, or taiwan teams).
Would you say WLB across the board is decent (< 50 hrs/wk)?
Did you try to negotiate for higher?
How many YOE?
Yoe?
10 YOE. 5 in software, 5 as a TPM.
