How’s San Diego?

I am making my final move in the US, I like to move to San Diego or Sacramento. Which is better and why? Currently we live in Dallas, Texas. TC 170k

I was walking from a hotel to a chipotle and i felt my life in danger

Verizon 8BitGuy OP May 17, 2020

are you serious?

Microsoft Data Rug May 17, 2020

... do not listen to this guy haha

Facebook lazyman May 17, 2020

San Diego is much better but much more expensive (at least the good parts). If you move there go to North San Diego around California Highway 56/La Jolla/La Costa Canyon. Those are pretty nice areas.

Capital Group FNSW43 May 22, 2020

How come San Diego is more expensive?

Amazon IJMg26 May 26, 2020

Because it is less of a hellhole than Sacramento

VMware corona 🦇 May 17, 2020

If you are referring to Roseville (near Sacramento), it’s pretty good area. I personally liked the vibe and new developments happening around there. Schools are excellent. Growth/opportunities might be lesser compared to the Bay Area (for tech industry specifically) but I’d consider it as one of the places to retire.

The weather is certainly nicer in San Diego but I’ve also never had a piece of plywood come flying up off the highway and narrowly miss my windshield in Sacramento either. Consider what sort of work you want to do - I think both tend to have some hardware focused companies but in many ways job opportunities are more plentiful in San Diego.

Verizon 8BitGuy OP May 17, 2020

Thanks how’s the crime rate?

Intel VmbT62 May 17, 2020

Varies depending on where you live. Like I wouldn’t live in certain parts of Sacramento or Orangevale, that’s for sure.

Amazon Ms.Corona May 17, 2020

Ew not Sacramento. The armpit of America is next door, Stockton , 3rd most violent crime rate in country. Definitely 100000 percent not even a question, San Diego is the better pick. Beaches, close drive to Los Angeles and Palm Springs.

Snapchat spiegel May 17, 2020

LA not that close. especially with traffic. same as driving from sac to sf

Amazon Ms.Corona May 17, 2020

SF is gross

MResult yvgq72 May 17, 2020

Texas to CA, Interesting. Have seen people move from CA to Austin or Dallas for peace of mind. How about you?

Verizon 8BitGuy OP May 17, 2020

What kind of peace of mind?

MResult yvgq72 May 17, 2020

Less traffic, house prices, and taxes.

Rally Health Mr Dwight May 17, 2020

Lol is this a joke? sac is hell compared to SD

Amazon Ms.Corona May 17, 2020

Seriously

Rally Health Mr Dwight May 17, 2020

Of course, its still in California. I said its not in the same league as SD. Sac gets super hot without proximity to the ocean. SD is a California dream with surfing, beautiful people and top notch mexican food. I was just focusing on the unequal comparison

Juniper been1810 May 17, 2020

San Diego is arguable one of the best cities in the USA!

Microsoft 10c5292v May 17, 2020

San Diego is great to visit. I've never lived there but the weather is perfect and it has a laid back vibe

Booz Allen Hamilton Pmoz61 May 21, 2020

Key word: visit

Twitter anewuser May 28, 2020

SD weather is perfect every day. Too boring for my liking.

Amazon MSj20 May 17, 2020

California is an illusion. It's a great state to visit but doesn't have enough resources to support more people. East coast is the more sustainable place to live. Suburban east coast is more affordable and has sufficient rainfall and less unpredictability in future weather (30-40 years from now).

Datometry LangEr May 20, 2020

Frozen tundra. No thanks.

Booz Allen Hamilton Pmoz61 May 21, 2020

Quite an insightful comment I’d say.
