Pretty amazing. Concerts every week. Lots of parties. All the rumors are true. Kicking Apple's ass is also fun š
are you from 2 years ago?
Just one year
Generally very good. Career progression is non existent, though, and engineers are given less credit for work compared to PMs.
I wouldnāt leave Lyft or Uber for Spotify. Going public is not the best time to join a company, ask Fbāers that were around then.
Do you guys have Europe style socialism culture there?
Yes. We all get a standard 3% raise no matter what.
Good benefits as it relates to work/life balance and no expectations to work late hours or weekends. The NYC office is fairly American in other ways-- firing underperformers and requiring fewer meetings to make decisions
It's all good. We'll be moving to a new office at the end of the year around the WTC which might be a challenge to the culture(lots of finance bros and tourists in those areas). But amazing views of NYC from the 72nd floor.
I would not recommend working at Spotify. Get a job that will pay you fairly and provide you a manager who will care about you.
Completely agree. They fire whistle blowers and have the worst middle management of any company I've ever been at. The best part of my experience working there has been learning what NOT to do.
Do you have an example? Genuinely curious

Would love to work at Spotify because I love the product (and music). Curious how apparent to the culture that is.
Culture is as perceived. How great that actually is, maybe leaves room to improve, especially with less than competent product and engineering management.
