Given WFH/remote is going to the norm, let's discuss whether your company is flexible in extending office benefits to home. This can be reimbursement for home furnitures, internet, monitors, food vouchers etc.
They bought a monitor to go with my laptop but that’s it so far.
Same for me
Fuck that place.
Cover Internet expense/monitors everything to need for comfortable work from home. Will be awesome if company will send some gift card for lunch once a week for some amount.
Expense what you think will make you more productive is the policy at Okta We have online store with bunch of stuff from Furniture (Chair/Electric Desk) to computer supplies (Monitors, Docks, Webcam, Yeti Mic, Laptop Stands, Cables). But people are still allowed to expense something they want but not on the store
1000 dollar to upgrade furniture
Don't forget $300 tech allowance for anything you need but can't get on Stuff
Oh of course
OP: Be frugal, damnit!!
So far, Microsoft has extended our previous stayfit benefits to include office furniture and home ergonomics. They did not increase the amount per year, however. I was allowed to go and pick up my office equipment though, like monitors/etc which was already pretty nice stuff so I'm not mad at all.
We got $100 for home office stuff. I bought some wheels for a nice chair just need to save up so I can afford the rest of it.
Just to save the “frugality” mentions You can expense wfh equipment pretty extensively I expensed over 1k and I’m far from being the only one (Yup more than my fb and g friends) So far - monitor , desk , chair , keyboard and mouse. The fact it’s not a 1 time sum but rather an expense policy really simplifies things.
Not sure if all managers are allowing it. My manager didn't even bring this up. A uniform guidance is better than leaving it to manager
This is a company wide policy with internal wiki You are right that it’s manager approved - but it’s almost semantic In our case l8 And vp were clear about it and made sure this was passed down We did get some guidelines to sums and who approved too. Also don’t forget the scale and diversity of positions at amazon ... it is an 800k people company I’m sure there are orgs / corners that are annoying about it The big ones aren’t
They ain’t extending shit
They extended the covered reasons of the wellness benefit. No extra money added, but the wellness benefit covered gym or sports and wellness related expenses up to a certain limit. Now limit is still the same but they also cover WFH setup expenses. For those who were already using up all the benefit limit before, that doesn't change anything. For those who didn't use the benefit (highly doubt it), this means they can get reimbursment.
