Folks, Wanted to get advice from folks on choosing the right offer. I have been at Amazon for more than 2 years and currently working as an L6 PMT. No complains with the role as such. Never been a TT but haven’t been at the bottom of the band either, but you know there is always that fear at Amazon. Also, I am moving to a new team next month and the opportunity sounds exciting and the team sounds pretty chill as well. I have never had a terrible WLB at Amazon but my experience with teams just has been average. I am hoping the new team (Prime Video) will be positive experience. I have 2 external offers both Sr. PM with HubSpot and Box with TC as below: Amazon TC: With all the stock price going down, it is at 250-260k this year probably going further down next year as no more bonus HubSpot TC: 310K first year and 280k the second year and later (210k base, 30k sign on first year and 210k worth of RSUs) Box TC: 290k first and second year and then 270k (210k base, 40k sign on spread over 2 years and 9600 RSUs) Assuming all of them with no refreshers. HubSpot has a better vesting schedule. 3 years with 6 month cliff and Box is 4 years with 1 year cliff. Both HubSpot and Box’s base is 210k which is 40k more than what Amazon’s base is. It might take me several years to get to that base at Amazon (unless I make it to L7 PMT at Amazon in a year and a half from now). I am not sure how the promo process works at HubSpot and Box and how quickly one would get promoted (HubSpot or Box PMs any thoughts on this?) While the total compensation is definitely better than Amazon with both HubSpot and Box, the role or the opportunity is more or less the same everywhere (Hubspot I am yet to know the exact role or the team as the role I interviewed for foot filled up). However, my biggest hesitancy is because of my green card process (fellow immigrants probably share the concern): My PD is Feb 2014 (Indian national) and based on all the rumors, it might become current again and I am hoping to get my perm and I-140 approved by then at Amazon. With HubSpot and Box, they won’t start the process until 3 months after I join and there is a likelihood that I might miss my window of applying for green card if my priority date. Given the compensation details, Green Card situation, exit opportunities when transitioning out of each company, time it takes to get to next level and more importantly the macroeconomic conditions with an impending recession), I’d appreciate if folks can provide suggestions on which one is a better choice right now. I know it is eventually a personal decision, but counting for some guidance from folks here. #amazon #hubspot #box #greencard
What's your YoE OP?
Total 13 years and Product around 5 years
Curious, why folks think HubSpot is a better choice?
Idk, I would have chosen Box, but I may be a bit biased
If you seek fantastic WLB choose HubSpot. But with your YOE and scale of what you have worked on, you might find senior PM to feel more junior than you want - depending on what team you could be managed by PMs with half your YOE. Not always a bad thing but I think it would be good to know.
Hi there, I’d love to pick your brain more on this. Would you be comfortable if I DM you?
Sure, happy to help if I can!
OP can you send your PM offer letter but redact your name. Need it for a counter offer at google lol
Thanks to a lot of folks who responded to the original message. For folks recommending HubSpot, would love to hear why you think under this circumstance, HubSpot is a better choice.
