I read this today on LinkedIn posted by a VP and I was like, WTF is he smoking ? is he out of his fucking mind, which metal box is he boxed in? Even Jassy now is refraining from posting / bragging about Amazon on LinkedIn because he knows how much heat Amazon is facing and people know that anything that comes out of his mouth is a straight lie and BS. #Amazon
I don’t have the problems people experience and smack talk on blind - have you worked here?
YESSSS
Anyone who denies this is an idiot. Amazon is a fu*cking hard place to work, but it does forge you.
Forge you to do what ? I don’t see a large number of founders coming from Amazon ? No breathtaking people management skills. It does forge you to become a dick and pretend you are a hustler and kpi is the only god. Sounds more like Stockholm Syndrome where the captives believe and sympathize (eventually becoming the same). Essentially a sociapathic 9-5er for life. If Amazon was so great why so many layoffs ? If LPs help you take perfect decision - how can you be so off ? If Lp forces you to listen and build for customer - what’s Alexa then ? The fact that Amazon current status is a shining beacon “how all strategies are sham”. Business has a moat so it will continue minting money for a while, I mean even yahoo does 10 billion in revenue for all that matters. Happy to hear your thoughts ? I am just curious in understanding what does the forge help you with ?
Drequs, you raise a lot of legit points. I never claimed Amazon is the next YC or that they are perfect. My point is that a short stint at Amazon early career talent does wonders to force you to grow.
Couldn't agree more. This is one of the hardest places I've ever worked to grow my career.
I quadrupled my salary coming here prior was non tech hardest / easiest move most lucrative move I ever made
