I am about to have an offer from Hulu. I am just curious And confused.
Depends on the department you're joining, but as a new hire you'd not really have an issue since you wouldn't know any better. We had a cut across the board to our bonus and overall pay structure regardless of performance. Benefits have been slashed, and there's some serious turmoil in upper management with attrition as high as it is. Also, there are some arbitrary deadlines to extraordinary projects that have been thrown around at this point so there's a bit of a specter over some teams.
As mentioned above, big changes to the comp and benefits structure (mostly downgrades). Leadership and many seniors have fled to greener grass, and we expect a lot more will be giving their notice once our annual bonus is granted just before end of the year. Oh and since we are bleeding faster than we can hire, incompetent engineers are promoted to leads/managers, making things more interesting.
Happening on the marketing side as well. I know it’s not what the OP does, but if it helps give a larger picture, it’s not just in tech/SWE side of things.
