I moved to US few years ago to Houston from Norway. One day, while I was working, my phone started buzzing with texts from parents that there was a possible shooter on the loose and they had been asked our children hunker down in one classroom. My heart started beating faster. I couldn't call him or know that he was safe for the fear that would reveal his location. Me and my wife ran for the school. We held each other's hands as we tried not to think about what happened in scenarios like this. By the time we reached, it the school was cleared from all danger. The suspect had been apprehended. Me and my family were shocked. There was a non zero chance that our child wouldn't make it out. It took us few days to be okay to let our son back to school. As a parent it's a terrifying thought that your children are in mortal danger in the one place they're supposed to feel safe. What baffled me was the PTA meetings that followed. Parents demanded more security be put in place in addition to metal detectors. "Is this what freedom looks like to these people?" I thought to myself. It's been over a year since the incident and there have been news of a shooting almost every other week in places like Walmart where we buy our groceries from. I am from a foreign land so will never understand the politics here. You could go out living your life and it could be your last evening, how is this an acceptable reality? What are we gaining that is worth so much that we would accept this? I get that no country is perfect and that everyone has flaws. But I will take safety of my family over lack of opportunity and wealth. This country has given me a lot and I'm sad to say goodbye to it. I just hope that you never have to fear about your child like I had to fear for mine. Tc: 350k Yoe: 9

Right!?! Namaste@ would happily take OP's salary even if it means sacrificing a few of their kids.
^wtaf i did i just read
just move to CA.
He will be stubbed by a homeless meth head the day he moves to SF.
CA has more registered republicans than Texas. Tons of guns, too (legally owned and otherwise).
Get out of Texas
Why would you leave Norway for America?
This lol if I had a button to move to Norway immediately and work as a swe there I’d press that shit immediately. Coming from an American
Weather? Not sure TX weather is better though.
How? I heard one of the best snipers was shot by someone.
Yeah gun will totally save you when shooter opens up into your back.
Can I have your job?
😂
I understand you completely. What I don't understand is why you would move here from Norway.
Lol, that’s so true.
He can go back to his socialist shithole? 😂
Are you going to keep your USA job? If not I imagine your TC will drop 60% and taxes increase 20%.
But nervousness decrease 1000%?
No pain no gain
Yeah you’re a little crazy for leaving Norway. Picking Texas was a bit of a self inflicted wound too.
🤣🤣
I don’t think it’s just a Texas problem. Also form a foreign land like OP and I must say that the US seems on a sharp downward slope. I like the American people a lot. But to someone from a different land - the fact that the same people who hate abortions, support guns, is baffling. I’ll even tell you where I’m from - India. A country that is far from perfect. But yes, I felt safer in her theatres. Funny really. You Americans can have it all. Yet you choose to self inflict pain these days. Hate has ruined your hearts. @OP - I feel you man. The money trap here is real too. Take care. Raise your kids well. Possibly far far away. I hope the US wakes up one day - but from what my closer American friends have told me, the gun lobby is far stronger than either party. Money isn’t real people. Lives are.
