I am loving the Amazon work culture!!

Joined this company 2 years ago. The first 3 months were really, I mean really, tough. Neither the teammates nor the manager helped me during the onboarding. I was convinced I was a hired to fire. But I was determined to survive because FANG. Something changed inside me in the 4th month. I started pushing back. I stopped being nice and become an assertive a-hole. Things got better for me. 1:1s went from 'you are lacking in xyz' to 'you are doing well! can you own this?' Teammates started respecting my opinion. Now I am loving the culture! Everyday I play politics. I subtly provide negative feedback, openly pushback and use words like 'I disagree but I can try to commit', etc. I may get a top-tier rating for 2023. This place is not for nice people. You need to be toxic. Now I look forward to the drama everyday. TC before Amazon: 90k TC: 300k #amazon #culture #fight #assertive #survival #fang

It really depends on the team. I used to have a team like that. Best team I’ve been in for years in multiple companies.

Jokes aside, the attitude of "say what the fuck you want when you want to who you want" unfortunately does make you look better. So many people here don't know what they're doing that just being someone who is willing to be assertive and tell others what to do let's you make a big splash. It's all about appearances and acting like you do the best job, not necessarily doing the best job.

So you became toxic to survive instead of having integrity and upholding your values. You're very proud of becoming a POS person for a paycheck. Good on you OP.

I need the money because I have obligations. Values can't feed my kids.
