I joined Amazon in 2022 just for money(2.5xed my TC) and brand name. Since Amazon doesn't let you choose a team or stack for sde 1. I was pushed into a really bad team. I realised this within weeks and wanted to switch but layoffs were going on at that time so no team was open for the internal switch. I really hated working there. Used to stay awake all night but couldn't finish work. Every work day was full of anxiety. Weekends weren't normal at all, instead of doing something I used to remain tensed up all the time and the weekends always seemed to pass like a second to bring me back to workday. Used to take a lot of bathroom breaks cause I couldn't stand being with them. Unhelpful seniors really added the topping to my misery. As expected my performance was pretty weak and I got put under focus in the 7th month. The manager gave me a project plan but I told them that I wanted to quit even though I didn't had any offer. Ended up working for a startup for a few months which heavily lowballed me. Somehow I got back on similar TC levels by joining another startup. The work was good, the team was superb and I was getting constant good feedback from the CTO and founder but then the founder changed the whole business model and decided to fire the whole f**king team. Now I am left here, Applying to literally any company for the past month and not hearing back. It really feels bad how much Amazon has impacted me. I really wish I could have transferred to a better team during my time at Amazon. Edit: Reading this made me feel like I am a underperforming whiner. But that's not true, I have always been appreciated for my work be it the company prior to Amazon or after Amazon. Just wanted to rant here.
