I have 30 days left

Greetings everyone, I'm currently seeking opportunities for 100% remote software engineering positions and could need some guidance. I've been actively searching for over 470 days. And since I'm based in Africa, it limits my options as many roles either aren't fully remote or don't offer visa sponsorship. I primarily utilize platforms like LinkedIn, Indeed, Glassdoor, Upwork, and Fiverr for job applications. Unfortunately, the conversion rates haven't been promising. For instance, LinkedIn's Easy Apply feature has yielded a 0% conversion rate, while other platforms have resulted in low conversions. Additionally, Upwork requires connections for proposal submissions, which I find financially challenging. Although I recently joined Fiverr, I haven't secured any gigs yet. Despite these setbacks, I'm determined to persist but would appreciate advice on where to focus my efforts. Considering my skills in Windows app development using WPF, backend development using C#/.NET, API development using Node/Express.js, and web frontend development using React.js, which platform would you recommend for job applications? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Updated: 6 YOE Degree: B.Eng #engineering #software #swe

Sounds like you are doing all the right things, maybe the issue is your resume not tailored to the job. You can tweak the skills section of your resume to mention the keywords from the job description, but also don’t lie if you don’t have that skill. Also lots of people getting laid off so hiring is just generally down right now. In the us it took me 8 months to get a new job. It’s brutal out there and I feel your frustration. Lastly, I too have 0% conversion from LinkedIn easy apply. A big black hole of hopes and dreams. It’s too easy to just spam that button I imagine the recruiters get so many useless applications as a result. Don’t lose hope friend you will get it soon! work on your resume and make it more relevant to the job. It’s more work but that’s what it takes.

Agree. Thanks for your comment. Giving up is not an option! When applying for most jobs, I customize my resume to match the JD. The main problem is that these companies do not offer 100% remote work and are not offering visa sponsorship.

Yes, your writing style comes off overly formal. It can be a turnoff for recruiters
