My manager mistakenly put our team’s salaries in a shared doc in a shared library labeled “FY22 Budget”… given I work in marketing I initially thought this was our advertising budget for next year… I was wrong. Here’s what I found. - I’m making 5% less than someone with a lower title and less responsibility in APAC (he has been with the company for 3 years) - I’m making 77% lower than my boss - I’m making 8% more than someone who has the same title/responsibility and was hired at the same time as me Is this ok? How do I know I’m being paid equitably? I’m a Senior Manager my boss is Senior Director, and I’m being paid less than a Manager. #salaries #equalpay #techcareer
Looks like now you need to find a new company
It all depends who negotiated for what, so yes, what you mentioned is possible.
Where work homey. Something similar happened to me. Was underpaid and undervalued. Started applying, increased. TC by 40% Could go to HR but would make things toxic
HR is part of the scam.
HR doesn’t care about you outside of the bounds of how your unhappiness could affect the company.
Sometimes, truth is hurtful… there are various reasons someone is paid x, not 100% related how capable they are
But it says a lot about how a$$hole the company and HR is, putting saving dimes and pennies (on scale of company's earning) in front of equality and balance.
Yeah its called “how little can we get away with paying you?”, informed by racism and sexism. Your wage is the price the Boss pays for your labor. Q: How much do you pay for a car? A: As little as possible. Why would that process be different for a boss and a worker? It’s not.
Is this ok? Yes How do you know? You don’t. How do I make more? Switch jobs. I love my job, should I ask for a raise? You can try but you will not get much. I don’t want to move: Then don’t complain about your pay.
Spineless Facebook piggie loves to talk down to fellow workers on an anonymous platform. “Be content with your exploitation, like I am!” “If you do something about being exploited, I might have doubts that accepting the crumbs from the Boss’s table is the right choice… and I can’t allow that!”
US News, are you ok?
Consider this a blessing. You just got market data which will give you more negotiating power for your next job.
Share the numbers for pay transparency here on Blind
We’re nosey.. lol.
Tell your boss that they should remove the file before other people see it. Then tell them it made you realize that your comp should be X. Oh and tc?
The other way around - share with as many ppl as you can before the boss takes it down. More transparency = more pay equality
Yes for the time being leverage that. I know someone who had similar experience as you. Had a candid Chat with manager, had pay revised and later jumped the ship
Edit your cell in the spreadsheet with how much money you want, and hope that no one notices.
And lower the boss’s cell ;)
