I love blind.

Blind empowers employees. It helps people realize their worth and drives wages up for everyone. Not to mention so many are willing to give out referrals. One of the most important apps around. Compared to almost anyone here I make lol TC. 110 CAD 4.5 yoe. I am at the bottom of the barrel. So I could be jealous as one of the poorest experienced workers on blind. And yet the only thing I feel is motivation and joy knowing the tech industry empowers employees if you're willing to work hard. I'm going to study. I'm going to take and fail 1000 interviews if I have to. But I will never give up. And then when my day comes I'll make a thank you blind post. And then help others out if they wish for the same.

TC or GTF.....Oh wait you have mentioned it already:)

Autodesk scaredboi Oct 25, 2021

Can I dm you for a referral? TIA!

Media.net qzygcd Oct 25, 2021

Unfortunately not working there anymore. But can send your resume to a friend who can refer you there.

Same. Especially I like how they tear down the wall of imagination for you to see the toxic reality. It was uncomfortable at first, but you would get used to it

It honestly is pretty motivating. I think people need to just realize that not everything will be perfect all the time. First 3 years I was under paid according to market standards, experience wise, but I sucked at interviews. I eventually studied and left, but never got jealous of others success, simply wanted to try to find my own version of it.

The idea is great, however, the app is awful.

>I'm going to study. I'm going to take and fail 1000 interviews if I have to. But I will never give up. I'm trying to really stick with this. I'm just a shitty leetcoder. I keep overthinking how to study and what books to read instead of just sitting down and finishing LC problems.

I’m a shitty leetcoder too - however, I found a pattern that works for me. It’s more than solving the problem, it’s understanding the problem the first and I think for some this is the hardest part. Once you understand the problem and know how to solve for worst time - then you can start optimizing. TLDR - solve the problem first in anyway, then focus on big O

Whether or not you want to acknowledge it, interview/leetcode grind/negotiation landscape for tech jobs is toxic. If you complain about Blind, you're really complaining about being too scared to do a fair self-evaluation of whether you're maximizing your TC to the best of your abilities. Get your head out of the sand, embrace TC or gtfo.

Flatiron Health rcN!NT& Nov 5, 2021

Great attitude OP! I think it’s also important to be ok with the fact that you won’t be #1 on Blind, but if you double your TC that’s also an objectively great outcome.

Sir, this is Wendy's.

Capital One d04x! Nov 6, 2021

I stayed off Blind for a long time because I heard there was a toxic culture here, and as a person who already experienced insecurities about my place in this industry, I figured it would be best to stay away. However, joining was a great decision in learning what's possible and how to game the system to maximize your happiness. Everything said and done this place isn't half as bad as WSB, so I was scared for no reason lol.

Everything is relative. 110CAD is a good salary in CAD. You're probably in the top 1% in CAN.

GEOTAB zack66 OP Nov 20, 2021

More like top 10-15 percent but yes, should still be grateful. Even lowly paid tech workers like me are still doing better than most
