At the end of last year, I had 2 offers Google L4 tc 300k Square senior tc 370k I chose Google and my friends called me stupid. Now from that point Google stock appreciated 50% and Square depreciated 40% making Google offer at 370k and Square at 290k. Even if people call you stupid, follow your judgement * PS Square interview was full of panels who joined at the peak with stocks crashed more than 85%. I cant imagine what they feel

Basing your decision of stock price is a moot point. You could have joined in 2020 and it could have been other way around. Your decision should be based on your learnings and growth opportunities within company. If you canāt understand this then all future opportunities are at a roll of dice. This time you got lucky but this if you are looking for a pat on your back then try LinkedIn.
This!!
āLearningsā is not a word. Stop supporting poor English.
So you got lucky in the stock market and think you made a smart move? If you can predict the stock market this well, why are you still working?
Don't speak the truth Sir šŗ
ššš Facts
That's good you won the share price game. But what about...... the job? Do you like the people you work with. Do you feel whole, enjoy going to work? A sense of ownership, Belonging, and a place to stay at?
Tbh joined Google due to the name. Working on my own startup at the moment and hoping Google name helps validating eng skills to investors. Also Google wlb and perks help me a ton too. Didn't make the decision due to the stock price prediction but it worked out well
Does it matter much all those belonging and social aspects? Like I have like 8 hour meetings per week. I am not a social person so I donāt a crap about chit chatting. So 2 years of dealing with 10 hour / week bs for $250K seems like a good trade off. Also you can switch teams after 1 year so you are capping out the bs time
Wow genius move picking Google over a scam company https://www.nytimes.com/2023/03/23/business/dealbook/hindenburg-block-jack-dorsey.html
Isnt Square top tier tech company
Lol they're getting sued and will also be slapped with insider trading. They were shorting the stock when they released a a liable paper
This is the same mindset of being right with a stock pick and thinking you are a pro trader. It has worked out for you and all, but that doesn't necessarily validate that your decision making process is sound.
I thought buying Bitcoin in 2014 made you a galaxy brain genius. Is this not the case?
Bad take. Experience here as a senior SWE is super valuable imo, and will help with career acceleration to come out ahead in the end.
Senior square is equivalent to google L4
What? OP is most likely referring to late L5 or L6, which is L5 at Google.
As others have said, from a career standpoint this will likely have slowed your growth in the medium/long term. But if youāre truly happy thatās all that matters and you donāt need blindās validation. Since youāre asking I suspect you are not totally at peace and want closure. Both of your options were good options, just live with your decision and donāt look back - fuck what any of us here on blind say
Youāre a Google simp and this is a copium post.
This is the correct move. Even if you're wrong, it's always better to make your own decisions and have yourself to blame, then make decisions based on others opinion and have those go wrong.
Still a dumb move from a TC pow. As your career progress both TC would feel like š„ and with everything equal you'll progress faster being senior vs l4. That said, you do you

TikTok has a point. As your savings grow 50K swings on a single day is pretty common. I am more focused on family, health and hobbies and stressing less on corporate bs
