Tesla - please fix the phantom braking bug. It is scary and dangerous. Wtf !! I nearly died today but someday you will definitely kill someone. Phantom braking - when you are driving on autopilot at highway speeds, Tesla neural network sometimes mistakes a shadow as an object and suddenly tries to make a full stop out of nowhere. What happened - I was driving on a highway with an 18 wheeler behind me. My Tesla phantom braked. The 18 wheeler couldn’t brake fast enough. I had a swerve on the shoulder to avoid collision. I had a 1 year old in the back seat. Probably avoided it by a second or something.

Sell it and get something else.
He's right. Why would you continue to drive and use a deadly feature. Sell it.
OP, griddle is right. If it's really a bug in Autopilot then you should disable it.
Ouch. I was on autopilot once and under a bridge it just started to run out of control. Be careful
Yup. It is scary.
What happened under the bridge?
Do you have video from your dash cam that you can post to get more attention about this issue.... sounds ridiculously dangerous and I know quite a few Tesla drivers who mentally check out after enabling autopilot
Yaa. The sentry was on. So it must have captured it. I’ll check and post once I am in front of a computer. good idea.
Yea post the video here if possible so others can see too. Also why not just accelerate once you noticed the car was braking for no reason?
Yikes 😳. I hear about this bug from many tesla users, it sucks.
Please do something about it.
There'll always be that X% error with image based CNNs, that's where the Lidar is supposed to come in. You can't do anything about it.
Put your life and the life of your child in the hands of someone who peddles in misinformation about Covid, doesn’t care for workplace safety, and lies to its customers (according to European courts).
This is taking it out of context, capital one.
As supported by the upvotes, Capitol One is right on!
Sue Telsa? People in the field know autopilot is not safe enough yet. Telsa should not make big claims that put people’s life at risk.
They have the disclaimers
That sucks. I bet they don’t mention this when they boast their full self-driving.
I just wonder how many screws you have to have loose to one day think oh yeah let's buy a Tesla.
Not a fan of Teslas either but you can still safely use it without autopilot until they have bugs like these ironed out?
XNur27 is right
Very scary. This could happen again. This time you survived. What about next time. I don’t think it’s worth the risk.
Agreed
This is the kind of one-and-done chance I would give to a car manufacturer
True
Damn ! Glad you are ok! What happened? Whats the bug?
