Mostly them salty men from Amazon btw. Men with their privileges stripped off don't wanna admit that the hiring bar, which is the performance at onsites, isn't lowered, but more diverse candidates are given the opportunity to interview. I am a diversity hire. I have strong problem solving skills, but very low visibility among recruiters. I had zero marketing skills, so diversity hiring sure helped me get my job. I was against diversity hiring because of the popular opinion that the bar gets lowered. I hated that, and I tried to explain to people that is not the case. It is not that men don't know that, they just don't wanna admit it. Screw them. Diversity hiring go brrrrrrrr.
I wouldnt let interactions with a few people on blind change your views - most people here are trolled and they dont tend to show their prettier side...
Brrrrrrr
On Blind, ethnicity and gender is masked. Did you know a poster was a white male or did you simply make that assumption? You need to get over your anger, as an older female to another female, it will not serve you well.
ButtHurt...
How about the said individuals admitting they're white males? It's actually either white males or Indian men.
“I was against diversity hiring because of the popular opinion that the bar gets lowered...diversity hiring sure helped me get my job.” So you were against it until it became convenient for you. I’m a “diversity” candidate. I think race-based hiring is definitionally racial discrimination (aka racism). It doesn’t matter whether or not diversity hiring helps me; the facts are what they are. I’ve never felt disadvantaged in my life because of my race. On the contrary, I’ve gotten plenty of perks (racist college admissions in my favor, racist hiring in my favor) and undeserved sympathy (you poor minority, what’s it like being oppressed). The sooner we just stop caring about race, the better. That’s what anti-racism means, not racism in the opposite direction.
As a person who comes from backward class and explicitly said no to using reservation system for college admissions in India, I fully agree with you.
This is what is called taking a quote out of context. Yes, I said diversity hiring helped me. It's supposed to help someone. It's not supposed to help no one. I also said how it helped me. It got me in the position to interview. I also said that I have good problem solving skills. You ignored all of that. Good job. Screw you. Diversity hiring go brrrrrrr.
Few guys successfully changed your view on such complex subject with Blind discussion - nah that’s not good. You need to have better stand on your believes. I am sure you will change your mind next time you encounter challenges in hiring diversity candidate.
Diversity hire pushes more candidates in the interview pipeline. It's worth noting exactly how my views changed. I hated diversity hiring because it diminished my own efforts and the hard work I put in. The only thing diversity hiring did for me (and I am very grateful for that) is that it got me in the interview pipeline. I hated it because of the "opinion" among haters that the bar is lowered for diverse candidates. Now that I know exactly what people are complaining about (how dare you put diverse candidates in the interview pipeline), I have changed my mind from hating diversity hiring to not hating diversity hiring. My mind hasn't changed that diversity hiring is fair.
You have absolutely no idea how diversity hire works in real world.
Over 70-80% of tech employees are white males or Asian in FAANG there’s only like 10% Latino, black and indigenous. But no! As soon as a black or Latino gets hired it’s bar lowering and they deserved that spot not them. It annoys me how some people are so self entitled that the only reason they can see getting rejected is because of diversity 😂 Get over your self. You ain’t that good and that’s why you didn’t get hired.
Do you consider the population of China and India when calculating US race demographics? If not, shouldn't people on H1B visa be excluded from this chart too? And that's gonna remove half of Asians there if not more. This diversity ratio is hypocrisy. And bars are lowered in general for black and Hispanic. It's not a secret.
Let me know the percentage of diversity that graduated in class of 2019,2018,2017 etc. you will notice that that percentage is less than that of which we hire. This means the diversity hiring pool is discriminating against others for weaker, more diverse candidates simple as. You can be for diversity and also recognize this simple fact. Inability to recognize this fact is an immediate indication that youre living in la la land
Wow compelling argument. Diversity hire is good because me is diversity
The argument is that diversity hiring isn't lowering the bar, just putting more marginalised communities in the interview pipeline. But you already know that. Screw you for selectively choosing the parts of the text I wrote that fits your narrative. Going by this logic, you yourself said "Diversity hire is good". Beat that sucker.
You’re not being honest. There are two completely separate pipelines.
Your message proves how low the bar is.
OP I hope you're enjoying all the butthurt snowflakes in this thread as much as me

Uh oh: President Trump leads Biden 49% to 43% in a two-way race.
You were expecting advantaged folks to understand and explicitly express that they are advantaged? Good luck..
I thought they genuinely thought diversity hiring is unfair. Now I know they know. They knew it all along.
Fairness means holding everyone to a single standard. Unfairness is treating certain people to much easier hiring and employment standards
