I was laid off recently. Started at J1, pay cut. Now J2..

I joined J1 recently, didn’t put it on my resume and I froze my TWN last month. Now J2 is initiating a background check. How do I ensure I secure J2? J1 is not on my resume.. but the fact that I was laid off at VMware (J0) is. I didn’t fill out a questionnaire for background check, just applied for the job with my resume, gave them my SSN and my previous addresses! #overemployed #layoffs TC: $200k - J1 TC:?$160k - J2 TC at VMware: $320k 15+ years of experience

The potential is there for $360k but given J2 is a contract role I will take time off from that once a while to focus on J1 or take a break from work. I didn’t fill out a questionnaire- just gave them my resume, SSN and my previous addresses.

The background checks I’ve gone through have just verified that the employment and education I put on the application are true. I don’t think they go hunting for additional stuff. Yes, there’s a risk, but as long as the data they will find matches the data that you gave them, you should be OK.

Thanks and how will they do that if TWN is frozen?

The BG firm may not use TWN to verify (but freezing it is still a good idea). One reason you’re asked for addresses and phone numbers of your previous employers is that sometimes the background check company contacts them directly to verify employment. Same with education. TWN may come into play for verifying employment with companies that have since gone out of business, since there’s nobody to contact.
