Just a few years ago tech interviews asked data structures and algorithm questions in order to see how candidates approached a problem and to work through it together. It was fun! NOW, “senior” engineers ask multiple hard Leetcode questions that have to be regurgitated quickly and perfectly. I refuse to play into such BS. I’m only interviewing with companies that have sensible interviewing practices. I’ve done my research and know which ones they are and have onsites lined up. Because it turns out that I don’t want to work at companies full of 20-something-year-old Leetcode zombies who call themselves senior engineers. Leetcode culture isn’t innovative and it isn’t creative nerd culture - It’s braindead tiger-mom culture seeping down from grads in CS programs. It’s the Jin Yang’s creating New Google. And yes, one of my previous companies was a “FANG” so no, I’m not bitter about never having gotten into a “FANG” LOL. Wake up sheeple, you’re perpetuating a shitty creativity-killing interviewing culture that is seeping into and killing the soul of tech.
Can you please share the list of those companies ?
Ok but don’t steal my job! Jk. Netflix (most teams apparently and definitely the one I’m talking to), Github, Slack, Square (reasonable pre team match phone screen and team I’m taking to is also reasonable). There may be others obviously but these are the companies I’m excited about that I know of.
Good names - all the best OP
Level and TC? Well it's not FANG, MAGA or unicorns. So which are these companies that will beat MS TC?
9YOE 308TC
Also, what’s tiger-mom culture?
Lol
I highly recommend you google “tiger mom memes” 😆
Which FANG?
It starts with an F or a G.
Fandango and Grubhub got it
Are you interviewing for senior engineering roles? Are Engineering management interviews also leetcode heavy at most companies? Asking because of your username. Good luck on the interviews 👍
Oh haha no I’m not a mgr. Just another “senior” engineer.😊
Keep fighting the good fight. For the rest of you plebs, if you can’t beat em, LC em.
lololol
Oh well. You can always join Walmart, you don't even need a coding interview
Oh rly? I hear they actually have solid tech
I wasn't referring to Walmart Labs, ;)
Yes! This. Braindead tiger mom culture.
