The entire org is about to start undergoing massive layoffs. It’ll be done in two waves and from what I saw the severance packages will be pretty decent. The goal is to go from 200 or so to 75. It’s highly inefficient as is now with 50% or more really not working. Welcome to Garage services ! HRBP saying most will come from the Austin campus. For people getting laid off I would look internally with quantum since they’re hiring a lot. Although unfortunately the overall perspective is that most in the org can’t even write a hello world correctly. Sorry to everyone being RAed. #layoff #severance #cpat #swe #layoff
Garage services does cloud paks?
CPAT was formed in 2019 from what I understand and they then decided to throw them into Garage since it’s the new marketing front for combined interdisciplinary teams (original Garage is the Cloud / Bluemix Garage). Garage now includes C&C and IBM Services (GBS GTS). Most of the talent (C&C) is leaving to Google, Microsoft, or other IBM teams. Everyone knows they overhired at CPAT and the hiring bar is a joke - not the original Garage standard. Some were fired for getting drunk and fooling around at a sales event last Feb.
Damn some got fired? How many?
Your source was an HRBP? Shit. When will the layoffs start? Standard 90/30 severance or PIPs like Services? My deepest condolences to all.
CPAT is primarily composed of Developers and Data Scientists. Any idea if one role will experience more layoffs than the other?
Umm cloud pak is way bigger than 200, this is a lie
Think about all those application developers on cloudpak
Yeah is this cloud pak or CPAT?
I was part of the layoff
Sorry man let me know if you need referral to amazon
What org?
Did the layoffs already happen?
I got laid off
I am hiring in OCI (Oracle Cloud) for software devs. DM me
Cpat?
And IBM austin shows vacancies for cloud domain, as recent as yesterday!
Good luck everyone.
What location?
From what HRBP - all with majority coming from Austin Campus.
@Truunk do you know why Austin is being hit as opposed to RTP, NYC, or remote?
