What happened to Sam Lightstone? Is it because he’s joining a competitor and can’t have a higher title?
In the beginning, they all have software engineer but change after few weeks (after boot camp?)
Facebook Software Engineer can be anything from a new grad to a Fellow. The title doesn’t change as you move up. You get a level, but that’s secret. It’s to encourage decisions based on the level of the idea, not their idea of your level.
Thanks. Sound a good idea!
Does he need to attend bootcamp?
On his LinkedIn description he says he "joined the technical leadership at Facebook" although the title is still software engineer. But for sure he got downleveled a lot... Just a proof of how terrible IBM strategy of consulting (selling) rather than building stuff has been for employees and shareholders.
Or maybe he just didn’t update the title, or will do so in a bit.
Most IBM Fellows aren’t that impressive. They just played a political game to get a title. 🤷
Never met them but good for them. Definitely a step up.
