IBM by a mile

JPMorgan Chase sgae2 OP Oct 10, 2021

How is JPMC as a firm? Bad experiences as an SDE?

Google MCMXCVI Oct 10, 2021

Why would you wanna live in Delaware

JPMorgan Chase sgae2 OP Oct 10, 2021

I guess the COL was something I was factoring in

Google MCMXCVI Oct 10, 2021

Were you factoring in your quality of life? Happiness? Friends? Or are you a robot that sees everything in terms of TC and money?

IBM gave you 150k for new grad?

JPMorgan Chase sgae2 OP Oct 10, 2021

108,150 base

Nordstrom ehk366 Oct 10, 2021

For future purpose, just say 108k, no one cares about the 150 dollars extra

JPMorgan Chase sgae2 OP Oct 10, 2021

IBM base is $ 108,150

JPMorgan Chase dataman112 Oct 10, 2021

Either way choose ibm. Wilmington sucks so much

Amazon wawY45 Oct 10, 2021

Ask for $108,420.69. I would not accept $108,150.

IBM Fakibm Oct 10, 2021

Which BU is this in ibm and what role is it? Looks like a consulting role if travel is involved and not sw dev

JPMorgan Chase sgae2 OP Oct 10, 2021

Accrdg to offer letter: associate developer full stack CT. Recruiter mentioned something about commercial team?

IBM Fakibm Oct 10, 2021

Ibm has 4 business units now: Services, software, infra and finance. Ask your recruiter which BU this team belongs to. I am sure they call some consultants in Services as associate dev, also because so much travel is involved i am suspecting it might be from Services.

https://www.teamblind.com/post/IBM-cant-even-afford-25-lunch-for-their-new-hire-jumpstart-event-Q8z2Ct3Z @op please read this. IBM is acting really cheap now. Although IBm is still Better than a bank like JPMC, however, you probably should look for a true tech company.

wow... yup these are 2 offers I have so far but I'm still interviewing for other sf startups / big n companies. thanks for the heads up

Hey OP, go with JPMC. I interviewed with IBM for summer internship last year and was given an offer letter after 2 rounds, got a call from the recruiter a week later that the position got cancelled. Nonetheless, I kept interviewing with other teams for other roles and Joined as an intern on another team. I was told by my manager in the middle of my internship that they'd love to have me return as a full-time. They kept saying this till the last day. LOL. Manager, recruiter and everyone ghosted after that and I got a generic reject after 6 months. That's it. No explanation at all! I applied for a different role altogether (IBM Research, San Jose) and got the offer. Negotiated 120 base and 10 joining bonus before the official offer letter was sent with the HM and recruiter (Which they agreed to). Even after this, my offer letter had TC as 110. If they can do this and lowball a returning intern, think about what could happen to a new grad.
