IT Ops -> SWE 6 month contract worth it?

Hello, I’ve been trying to break into SWE from the ops side for a few months now. I have a CS degree from a low tier uni. I am interviewing for a 6 month contract to hire with American Airlines for a Jr Java role. If I were to be offered: Is it worth it to take it? Would that look like a red flag on my resume if I don’t get brought back, so only the 6 month experience? Would it make finding my next job easier? Would my time be better spent just applying for those 6 months for a full time role? I’m inclined to take it since entry level is so saturated but I’m just kind of curious on peoples thoughts that have more experience in the industry. Thank you Current TC 0 since just left IT job #engineering #swe #careerchanger

some experience is better than no experience try it out. If you dont like it or dont get an offer you can always go back if you are in good relations at your last job. Keep LCing and if someone asks just come up with a story if you dont get a return offer

Yeah pretty much what I was thinking. Thanks for the input!
