If I keep doing Blind 75 questions as a kind of "drill set", will that be enough to pass the data/algo portions of interviews? #leetcode #blind75 #datastructures #algorithms @google @microsoft @netflix @apple @meta @facebook @amazon #engineering #software #swe
What is blind 75?
[Blind] Check out this post! New Year Gift - Curated List of Top 75 LeetCode Questions to Save Your Time (Tech Industry) https://us.teamblind.com/s/OaM1orEU
Blind 75 is more for concepts. 'Drilling' 75 problems is not the point. Expect variations, follow-ups, and entirely different problems.
It wasn’t enough for me. Think of the Blind 75 as a tutorial on how to work on certain types of problems, like knowing how to control your own character in a video game. When I got to real interviews I wasn’t able to come up with the right solutions or found myself using the wrong technique like 2 pointers versus recursion. But if you told me which technique to use, then I could do it.
Thank you!
How did you eventually crack your interviews, then?
I think you'll need more exposure depending on how many concepts you're familiar with. I did around 300 to feel confident. For example, it doesn't cover Dijkstra, monotonic queue, and some other things.
How long did it take you to do 300?
Just do whatever you're comfortable doing, you'll never be 100% ready.
Some questions have a specific trick you have to know, Blind 75 will cover a lot of things but never enough
I think Blind 75 is the bare minimum and my number to feel confident is closer to 500+. There are just too many damn problems.
How long did it take you to do 500?
If you do 3 questions a day ....
What you need to understand is that the blind 75 is a good list of questions that exercise common patterns, data structures and algorithms. The questions themselves are useless. Its about adding to your toolbox (the patterns, intuition for data structures and algorithms). Memorizing answers is pointless It took me 3 months to do 300 lc questions with intense study + note taking. The rest 100 has been done over a month Lc count: 400
Fair enough! I just want a drill set so that those patterns and intuition is kind of constantly in rotation in my mind.
Here is how I approach blind 75. After you do a problem listed on blind, if it's easy or medium, look for similar questions tab and do a few of the variations. If you can solve around 250+ (atleast for me) you have covered most but as you know it's also a lot of luck. I suggest doing 4 questions everyday
Great suggestion!!
As some have suggested, consistency and spaced repetition is key. Cramming leads to memorizing approach, which can trip you up. Think of it as employment insurance, for a few questions a day. Unless you have onsites coming up, then cram but take it easy the day before the on-site to be fresh.
Great advice. Great AD. VICE.
Some but not all, it’s a good start.
