Maybe Twitter has too many features. Or maybe they should have used Erlang. #shitpost #friday
Most tech companies are bloated
Except Apple. When linkedin is doing layoff ?
That’s what Bill Gurley asked. But what does that guy know, right?
You need thousands to whine to the establishment media about how bad Elon is . Mark laid off 11k and is also tanking his company , but don’t look there , Elon is the bad guy
If WhatsApp only needed 55 employees, why does Tesla need 30,000 corporate (non car manufacturing) people?
For sales and service support! Software development, fsd … the list goes on. You live under a rock?
Cars more overhead than a chat app
What is WA business model btw? How much is it making Check what Twitter model is. There is a difference between early days of 55 engineers at WA and a full stack org supporting Twitter.
It’s not about the demand.. it’s about the commitment. Those 55 people became multi millionaires when WhatsApp was sold. All that twitter has are rats running for paycheck.
1) Twitter does more things. A huge part of WhatsApp's initial appeal was its simplicity, which let's you get away with having fewer employees. 2) Speaking from some experience, those 55 employees were really good. If you can hire the right 55 employees you can get a lot done. But if you can't hire the absolute best of the best, you need a lot more.
No doubt there was bloat at Twitter. As to your example, Whatsapo generates no revenue so I assume you only need the few to run it in steady state. With monetization the needs increase though not 7.5K
Telegram is doing fine with even less people. Don't tell me it's simpler, smaller, has less features or load. Twitter was bloated, same is about meta, Microsoft, Amazon, Google and others. Everybody was hiring like there is no tomorrow for the last two years
Shhh you’re not supposed to ask the right questions…
