Two things have been proven to be very important over time: diversity in your skillset and niche expertise in an useful area. AI dev is not an easy career to get into, you have to be a good programmer and a sharp person with good analytical skills and math prowess. It requires at least 2 different skillsets which makes it harder to oversaturate in the market. Even though almost everything in AI has been abstracted away and encapsulated, management doesn't know that so it thinks it's a generally hard job (lmao). Let's take the closest example of something similar: - Quant jobs exist for more than 20 years, they require both math and CS and there have always been a demand (over all 20 yrs) - with pretty high entry requirements. Now I understand that, the reason for always being demand may be because everybody stays ~5 years there on that 400k-10M TC and then bails to do what they enjoy so hedge funds always need replacements, but my point still stands. Other way to be immune to layoffs is have very specialized knowledge - like knowing how to build and improve infra in HFT - infra to support trading at pico-seconds. That thing will always be sought after and there are not many experts. And yes, I know the amazon and fb layoffs also included ml but it is generally less impacted (and some MANGA is still hiring in AI/DS). 2YOE TC 190 Not bay area #finance , #quant, #machinelearning, #techcareer
How do I get that 10M TC?
Get lucky, know a lot about the world markets, automatize your trades with a good strategy that you slightly modify over time.
Ok let me get right to it then!
